Labor Day 2014

It's funny - about a week or so ago, out of the blue, Xander said, "Why haven't we had any holidays lately?  It's been like a MONTH!"  So he was pretty jazzed when I told him we had one coming up.  AND that we got to go swimming on that day!

We went to some of our family's house/land in Spruce Pine, and it was just beautiful.  They live out in the middle of nowhere, but it's a gorgeous setting.

They have chickens, ducks, and guineas, which the kids got to feed.  And dogs, cats, and a goat, too.

Oh, and bees.  They harvest honey, so there are honeybees too.  There were even several hanging out by the pool, but they didn't bother us.

It was very nice to spend the day hanging out and relaxing.

Swimming without his vest now!

And watching the kids play in the pool, of course.

Aunt Molly didn't push him - he was jumping over her arm to learn to dive.  (This was his first attempt.  It got better.)

Why yes, the lady behind Piper (Aunt Meg) is, indeed, holding a goat.  He snuck into the pool area and she had to put him back out.

It was a great day, but not quite a celebration of the end of summer for us!  We still have a beach trip planned in a couple weeks, so we're hanging on a little longer (and praying for good weather for the trip!).
